Agility
Apart from taking part in dog shows we train agility.
Agility is a race with obstacles to be completed by a dog acompanied by its owner. The four-legged contestant has to complete all the tasks within a time limit and in an order set by the judge. The owner is only allowed to use his voice and gestures to guide the dog.
The dog is confronted with many challanges, such as hurdle-jumping of different heights, jumping through the middle of a tyre, passing through tunnels, making a slalom between tightly set poles, traversing an elevated and narrow footbridge, running over a seesaw and crossing a wall.
The human company is not allowed to touch the dog nor any of the obstacles, nevertheless he can, or should, motivate his dog all the time. Agility is a sport for big and small dogs alike as all the obstacles are set to a certain height depending on the height of the dog. It’s a sport for every dog - purebred or not the only thing important is the agility, speed and intelligence paired with a lot of training and understanding between dog and owner.
Apart from training we took part in some races with rika where she did really well, and even reached 2nd place twice in agility and jumping
Cest and RikÄ… also took part in the New Year’s Challange where they achieved good results. We are especially proud of Cest as you can see the dogs potential still being largely untapped. The only way remains to practice, practice and practice. Who knows, we may find ourselves taking part in the Polish Championships one day.
